Updated Information – BA Line at Kashima Works

2011/06/28

First of all, we deeply appreciate continued understandings and kind supports provided by our customers, vendors, Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. Kashima Steel Works, Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd. and others after the quake occurred.

Regarding to the bright annealing line at Kashima Works, we have been working on to fully restart it by the end of July in 2011, and that is on schedule as of now. However, looking at possible power shortage and the need to conserve energy in the Eastern Japan, we have decided to postpone the timing of the complete resumption of the line until sometime after the end of September in 2011, instead of the end of July in 2011 initially setup.

Hikari Works will continuously run its bright annealing line during the period. In addition, to produce some items, such as emboss-items, which can be made in Kashima only, we plan to operate the line in Kashima Works on holidays when there is not concern regarding power limitation.

Also, during the summertime, Kashima Works will save its electricity consumption by 20% comparing to the peak level in the daytime by running some facilities at night.

We are continuously making our best endeavors on responding perfectly to our customers’ requests and running all items on the line in Kashima Works by the end of September in 2011.
